Mentioned in this story
Rockstar Games has moved the start of GTA 6 pre-loading up by two days, to 10 November 2026. The studio announced the change in a blog post on its website. Pre-loading lets players download the game before its launch.
Rockstar had previously said pre-loads would begin on 12 November. That date was tied to the shipping of physical copies, which come with digital download codes. Rockstar has not said whether the earlier date changes when those physical copies ship.
Game size confirmed
Rockstar also confirmed the size of the pre-load file. It will be 212GB, although the exact figure depends on the device. Players will need substantial free storage to download the game ahead of launch.
The game launches on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X nine days after pre-loading opens. A 212GB download will take a long time on a typical home connection, so starting early gives more time to finish before launch day.
Rockstar has not said why it moved the date. It has not announced a PC version.
