Where the numbers come from

How idly covers politics

  • Every party gets the same treatment: the same rules, the same labels, listed alphabetically.
  • No endorsements, and no predictions presented as fact.
  • Opinion polls only with the pollster, sample size and dates, and always labelled as a poll.
  • Allegations, criminal cases and anything about caste or religion wait for a human editor.
  • Nothing about politicians' private lives, and no deepfakes or manipulated media.
  • During an election's 48-hour silence period, political stories about that state wait for an editor.
  • Names of representatives only from official sources (ECI, legislatures, government sites), with the date.
