Suriya's Scene sells 7,000 tickets in an hour ahead of Friday release

Suriya's crime comedy Scene opened advance ticket bookings in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday night, and it has already drawn strong early demand. The film, directed by Jithu Madhavan, is set to release this Friday.

Earlier, bookings had been held back in Tamil Nadu while the makers waited for the state government to issue a new order allowing 6 AM shows. That order has now been issued, and 6 AM shows are on sale. Bookings for Kerala had already opened earlier, and the film had crossed 20,000 tickets sold on BookMyShow there.

Early sales against Ramayana

Scene has sold around 7,000 tickets in an hour, while Ramayana sold about 3,000 in the same period. Ramayana's bookings opened more than a week ago, so its figures reflect a longer sales run. The comparison is an early sign, not a final measure of how either film will do.

The film's cast includes Nazriya Fahadh as the female lead, and Naslen plays the antagonist. Suriya, Jithu Madhavan and Zhagaram Studios jointly produced it, and Sushin Shyam composed the music.

What comes next

Ramayana is a big film with high expectations, and it releases tomorrow. Ticket sales for both films are expected to rise as word of mouth spreads. Scene's supporters have raised concern about a shortage of screens in some regions. It is not yet clear how that will affect the film's reach.

Whether Scene can match its early ticket sales on opening day is not yet known.
