Terms of use
The short version: read, share and enjoy idly; check what matters with the original reports; don't copy or scrape idly wholesale; and tell us when we get something wrong.
Who we are
idly is published by Zaio Private Limited, 11th floor, No. 32/2, Kadabisanahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka (“idly”, “we”, “us”). These terms apply when you use the idly website, its email edition and notifications. By using idly you agree to them; if you don't, please don't use the site. Our privacy notice, editorial policy and disclosures are part of these terms.
Using idly
- idly is free to read. No account is needed.
- You may read, share links to and quote short parts of idly stories, with credit to idly and a link.
- Some features are for readers aged 18 and over: personalisation, the email edition and notifications.
- We may change, pause or stop any part of idly (for example Ask idly or the email edition) at any time.
AI-assisted summaries, accuracy and corrections
idly stories are summaries of reporting published by other outlets. An AI model writes the first draft from those reports only; automatic checks run on every draft, and sensitive stories are held until an editor approves them. How idly works explains each step.
We work hard to get things right, but summaries can contain mistakes, and news changes quickly. idly is for general information. It isn't financial, legal, medical or other professional advice, and you shouldn't rely on it alone for decisions that matter: read the original reports we link and, where it counts, ask a professional. When we find or are told about a mistake, we fix it and log it on the corrections page. Report one with the correction form.
Original publishers and their rights
The reporting belongs to the outlets that did it. idly links every source a story was built from, uses only short quotes, and writes summaries in its own words: no run of nine or more words is copied from a source except quotes. Photos are used only from press kits or with credit to their source. Copyright in the original reports, photos and videos stays with their owners.
If you own content you believe idly uses wrongly, write to grievance@idly.world with the link and what you own. We review it within the timelines on the grievance pageand remove or change what isn't ours to use.
What you send us
When you send a tip, correction, listing request, creator request or any other message through idly's forms or by email:
- You confirm it's true to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share it.
- You give idly a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use, edit and publish it (or parts of it) in idly's reporting, listings and social posts. You keep any rights you have.
- We decide what, if anything, to publish. We never name you as a source without asking first.
- Don't send anything unlawful, defamatory, someone else's private information, or material you have no right to share.
How we handle your details is in the privacy notice.
What you may not do
- Copy, republish or sell idly's stories, summaries, images, data or design in bulk, or present them as your own.
- Scrape, crawl or harvest idly with automated tools, or use idly's content to train or feed AI models, except search engines indexing pages as robots.txt allows, or with our written permission.
- Overload, probe or break idly's systems, get around rate limits or security, or access the Control room or anyone's data without permission.
- Use Ask idly, the forms or any other feature to harass anyone, spread unlawful content, or send spam.
- Pretend to be idly, its staff or anyone else.
Commission links and sponsored content
Some links to products, tickets or services are commission links: if you buy, idly may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. They are always marked, and they never decide what idly covers or how a story is ranked. Paid placements always carry a Sponsored or Presented by label. Prices and availability come from the shop and can change; the shop, not idly, sells you the product and is responsible for it. Details are on Disclosures.
Ask idly
Ask idly answers from idly's own published coverage, with links to the stories it used. Answers are written by AI, can be incomplete or wrong, and are only as current as idly's stories. It isn't a substitute for professional advice. There are daily limits on how many questions one connection can ask. Don't put personal details in questions.
Third-party content and links
idly links to other websites and shows YouTube videos and Instagram posts through their official embeds. Those sites and their content are run by others under their own terms and privacy policies; idly isn't responsible for them.
idly's name and content
The idly name, logo and design, and idly's own words, graphics, data compilations and software, belong to Zaio Private Limited or its licensors. Apart from what these terms allow, please ask before using them.
Our responsibility to you
idly is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be available, error-free or complete, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by relying on a summary instead of the original reporting. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other law that can't be excluded, or our liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. If you have a complaint, please contact us first: most things can be fixed quickly through the grievance officer. Subject to that, the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have jurisdiction, without taking away any right you have to go to a consumer commission.
