Diljit Dosanjh says he feels unworthy of singing Hanuman Chalisa for Ramayana

Singer Diljit Dosanjh has said he does not feel worthy of singing the Hanuman Chalisa for Ramayana: Part 1, which reached theatres on 5 November. He also asked forgiveness in case he mispronounced any words in the devotional track.

Dosanjh spoke to the Punjabi channel SirfPanjabiyat about his part in the film. He said he was grateful for the chance to sing the revered composition, even though he did not think he deserved it. "I don't feel I'm worthy of such an opportunity, but getting to sing it was a very big thing for me," he said.

Dosanjh said he tried to sing the track with all his heart. He said that if he had got any words wrong, he sincerely asked for forgiveness. He described the recording as a responsibility that came with a devotional piece of such importance.

The track brings together three musicians. Dosanjh sang the vocals, while A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer worked on the film's music. Rahman is an Academy Award-winning Indian composer, and Zimmer is an internationally known composer.

The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Sunny Deol plays Lord Hanuman, who appears in the final part of the film. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, and the cast also includes Sai Pallavi.

It is not yet known whether the track will be released separately or how audiences have responded to it so far.
