A slow start to the week
The film opened during the pre-Diwali period, which is usually a difficult window for new releases. Its team said the collections held up through the week on audience response and positive word of mouth. With no big release scheduled that weekend, its footfall was expected to rise again.
Udta Teer is written and directed by Aakash Kaushik. Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment produced it, with Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Guneet Monga, Apoorva Mehta and Achin Jain as producers. Sara Ali Khan co-stars with Ayushmann Khurrana, alongside Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev and Suhail Nayyar.
Milestone and what comes next
With Rs 55.03 crore worldwide, Udta Teer is Ayushmann Khurrana's fifth film to gross Rs 50 crore worldwide in the post-COVID era. It has also moved past Doctor G, which grossed Rs 46.4 crore, to take fifth place among his post-pandemic films. Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, at Rs 77.81 crore, remains out of its reach.
The film's run is expected to end soon. Ramayana releases on Thursday, 5 November, which is likely to reduce screens and footfall for Udta Teer. The figures are the film's own and have not been independently verified.
