Mahindra posts record October SUV sales of 73,338 units

Mahindra has recorded its highest monthly SUV sales ever, selling 73,338 units in the domestic market in October 2026. The figure is 2% higher than the 71,624 units it sold in October 2025.

Including exports, the company's utility vehicle sales for the month came to 74,904 units. Across all automotive segments, total sales reached 131,109 units, a 9% rise on the previous year and also the highest monthly total the company has reported.

Strong growth across segments

Mahindra said its domestic utility vehicle sales for the first half of FY27 grew 17% to 431,480 units, compared with 369,194 units in the same period a year earlier. Light commercial vehicles weighing between 2 and 3.5 tonnes grew 5% to 28,654 units. Those below 2 tonnes fell 4% to 4,383 units. Three-wheeler sales, including electric models, rose 38% to 17,632 units.

Exports jumped 77% year on year to 7,102 units. A separate trucks and buses business also grew 40%, according to a report on the company's figures.

Dr Velusamy R, President of Mahindra's Automotive Business, said October was a landmark month. He credited the festive season and a refreshed product range for keeping sales momentum up across SUVs, pick-ups and three-wheelers. He also said the company's first CNG vehicle, the XUV 3XO ZNG, has attracted strong interest from buyers.

What it means for buyers

For Indian car buyers, the figures point to steady demand for Mahindra's SUVs during the festive period, which often sees higher showroom footfall and offers. The CNG version of the XUV 3XO gives buyers who want lower running costs a new option within the brand's compact SUV range.

The company has not said how much of the sales growth came from discounts or financing schemes during the festive season.
