Xiaomi begins global rollout of Android 17-based HyperOS 4

Xiaomi has started rolling out the stable version of HyperOS 4, its custom software, to compatible phones and tablets, the smartphone maker said on Wednesday. The update brings Android 17 features and a new design to the devices.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is among the first devices to receive the update. Other Xiaomi 17 series phones and Xiaomi 15 phones will also get it. The company has listed these models as part of the first batch.

Rollout across Poco, Redmi and Pad

The update is also scheduled for Poco devices in early November. These include the Poco F8 lineup, the Poco X8 series, the Poco M8 lineup, and the Poco C95 Pro and C85. Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi will also receive the upgrade in early November. The list covers the Redmi Note 17 series, the Redmi Note 15 series, the Redmi 17 series and the Redmi 15 lineup.

The first batch also includes the Xiaomi Pad 8 series. Xiaomi has not said whether the update will reach older models outside these lists.

What it means for owners

For owners of the listed devices, the update adds Android 17 features and the new interface. Users can check for it in their phone's software update settings once it reaches their model. Xiaomi has not given a region-by-region timetable beyond the early November window.

What is not yet clear is the exact date each model will get the update, or how long the rollout will take. Xiaomi has also not said how much of the update is new in terms of specific features.
