Apple says over 100,000 apps now built for iPhone Duo

Apple says more than 100,000 apps built for its iPhone Duo are now live on the App Store. The figure came in a company statement released on Friday, 6 November.

The foldable has now been in shoppers' hands for a fortnight since its official launch. Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of worldwide developer relations, said developers had moved quickly to support the foldable. "It's been wonderful to see how quickly developers have embraced iPhone Duo, and we're grateful for their creativity and innovation," she said.

Prescott said the company was seeing a fast pace of updates. "The enthusiasm has been incredible, and we're excited to see the pace of updates," she said. Apple said thousands of optimised apps are joining the store on a daily basis.

What the figures show

The number covers apps built for the iPhone Duo's folding screen. Apple's statement did not say how many of these were new releases and how many were updates to existing apps. It also did not give a breakdown by category.

The details come from Apple's own announcement, not an independent count of the App Store. Apple has not said how it measured the total.

For Indian buyers, the figures suggest that a wide range of apps is already ready for the phone. Apple has not said when the device or its apps will be available in India, or what the Indian price will be.

The company has not said how many iPhone Duo units have sold.
