Vi launches Rs 35 add-on pack with two regional OTT apps

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched a Rs 35 add-on pack that gives prepaid customers access to two regional streaming services. The pack runs for 28 days and comes with 1GB of data.

The pack is sold as an add-on. It does not replace a customer's existing service-validity recharge, which keeps the number active. Only customers who already hold an active Vi prepaid service-validity recharge can buy it.

Choice of platforms

Customers can pick two services from six options: SonyLIV, Chaupal, ManoramaMax, KLiKK, AddaTimes and Aao NXT. The content is streamed through the Vi Movies and TV app on a smartphone.

Vi says the pack is aimed at the growing demand for regional-language entertainment in India. The offer is available through Vi Movies and TV, the company's content aggregator platform.

The pack is one of several digital bundles Vi has offered to its prepaid base. Vi has not said how long the offer will run.

What it means for users

For users who already watch regional films or shows, the pack offers a low-cost way to reach two services in one place. Because the pack is an add-on, a customer who wants streaming must still keep an active prepaid recharge.

Vi has not said how many customers it expects to buy the pack, or whether the price will change.
