Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi's film Ramayana opened in cinemas over the Diwali weekend, and early numbers show strong demand for its Saturday shows. The mythological epic, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, earned ₹126.7 crore gross worldwide on day one.
The film's advance sales for Saturday, 7 November, were also strong. By 3 PM on 6 November, advance bookings had reached ₹26 crore net, with more than 9.25 lakh tickets sold in India. That figure was expected to keep rising until bookings closed.
Advance sales alone put Ramayana among the top 10 first-Saturday collections for Hindi films in 2026. The film's gross, excluding blocked seats, stood at ₹30.5 crore at that point.

For Hindi net on opening day, the figure is ₹47 crore. The film's day-one overseas earnings were about $5.1 million, including premieres.
The worldwide gross counts all languages, while the Hindi net counts only the Hindi version in India. The basis for each figure has not been explained.
The film opened in the pre-Diwali period, when audiences in North India are less likely to go to cinemas. This has reduced the Hindi version's earnings. The Telugu and Kannada versions, released more widely in the South, have taken some of the Hindi version's business.
The film's daily numbers are expected to rise and fall until Sunday. It is expected to gain strength from Monday, the day after Diwali, as many Bollywood Diwali releases have done.
Ramayana's first-day success is the second-highest opening of Sai Pallavi's career. Only Amaran has earned more for her, at ₹339.66 crore worldwide.
The box office outlook for the coming days depends on word of mouth and audience turnout after the holiday. The film's full extended-weekend totals have not yet been confirmed.
