Ramayana
Ramayana, the film directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, is drawing large crowds at the box office. Advance bookings for its second day, a Friday, have reached about ₹19.08 crore gross, excluding blocked seats, and more than 5 lakh tickets have been sold across 23,304 shows in India.
Maharashtra leads the domestic pre-sales with about ₹3.50 crore gross for day two. Delhi has brought in ₹2.83 crore and Mumbai ₹2.24 crore. The Hindi version alone has generated ₹15.36 crore gross in advance sales at an average ticket price of ₹453. The Telugu dubbed version has added ₹1.82 crore, helped by strong interest in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
First-day estimates
Early trade estimates put the film's Hindi opening day at between ₹50 crore and ₹51 crore. The figure depends on how well the film has performed in single screens in the mass belt, the trade estimate said. If confirmed, it would beat the opening of Tiger 3, which made ₹44 crore on Diwali day.
The same estimate expects Saturday's business could be higher than the opening day, possibly reaching ₹60 crore. It projects around ₹210 crore for the four-day pre-Diwali weekend, with national chains expected to contribute about 55 per cent of Thursday's business. Its wide release covers more than 20,000 shows in North India.
A limited release in southern markets, arranged by distributors there, may have cost the film at least ₹5 crore in Hindi business, the estimate said. These figures are early projections and have not been confirmed by official box office data, so readers should treat them as provisional.
