Volkswagen India has released the first official teaser of the updated Virtus sedan, ahead of an expected December 2026 launch. The preview shows new exterior styling, GT badging and newly designed alloy wheels.
The teaser shows the car in a blue shade with a GT model's red badge. At the front, the slim headlamps carry LED daytime running lights, and the bumper has a wider lower air intake. Separate fog lamps from the current model have been replaced by horizontal inserts. At the rear, split LED tail lamps extend onto the boot lid, and a small lip spoiler and GT lettering have been added. Volkswagen has not said what the complete list of changes includes.
What the teaser does not show
The cabin has not been revealed. The facelift is expected to get revised upholstery and trim, and possibly a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Those details remain unconfirmed by the company.
The car has been spotted testing on Indian roads for months. The current Virtus, launched in India in 2022, is offered with two turbocharged petrol options: a 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI. Both are expected to carry over, though the smaller engine may get an eight-speed automatic in place of its six-speed unit. The new Virtus is already shown on the company's Indian site.
For buyers, the price and final specifications are not yet known. Volkswagen has not announced pricing, and the December date is an expectation rather than a confirmed launch date.
