Mentioned in this story
Zee5 will stream the Hindi drama Last Man in Tower from 6 November 2026, the platform announced. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani and Divya Dutta, and was produced by Rana Daggubati under his Spirit Media banner.
The film is directed by Ben Rekhi and adapted from Aravind Adiga's novel of the same name. It is set in a Mumbai housing society where residents are split over a redevelopment plan. Bajpayee plays Yogesh Mishra, a former physics teacher who will not leave his flat even though his neighbours have accepted the offer. His stand strains his ties with the people around him.
Characters and performances
Divya Dutta plays Sangita Puri, a housewife who wants a better life for her son, who has special needs. That goal puts her at odds with Yogesh. Boman Irani plays Dharmen Shah, a developer pushing the project forward. Sukant Goel and Chandan Roy Sanyal also appear in the cast. Govind Vasantha composed the music.
Bajpayee said Yogesh's ambiguity drew him to the role. "He is a man who stands firmly by his beliefs, yet the story leaves you questioning whether he is right or wrong," he said. He also linked the film's theme to Mumbai, where old buildings are regularly making way for new ones.
A quiet theatrical run
The film was released in cinemas on 11 September 2026. It did not do strong business at the box office, though critics and audiences praised the performances. It is the first on-screen pairing of Bajpayee and Irani. Whether the OTT release will bring the film wider recognition remains to be seen.
