Key facts

- Members can check their PF balance, passbook and last five transactions on the app.
- Personalised help is offered for pending Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana requirements.
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has started a WhatsApp service that lets subscribers check their provident fund details without visiting an office or using the EPFO website or app. The service was unveiled on 1 November 2026, at the organisation's 74th Foundation Day event in New Delhi, where Union Labour and Employment Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya presented it.
Through the verified WhatsApp channel, eligible members can access four services. They can see their available PF balance, view passbook information on their contributions and account, and check their five most recent transactions. They can also receive tailored support for finishing the steps needed under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY).
Authorities said the PMVBRY assistance is most useful for members whose scheme-related applications are stuck. Common reasons include incomplete Aadhaar authentication or missing documents. Members can use the chat to find out what is still needed and how to complete it.
The service works on the mobile number and WhatsApp account a member has registered with the EPFO. Subscribers who want to use it should check that their number is linked to their account first.
For many members, checking a PF balance has meant logging in to a portal or visiting an office. A chat-based service makes these checks quicker, especially for those who do not use the EPFO app. Members who have not yet linked their mobile number should expect to do that before the service will work for them.
It is not yet known how many subscribers are expected to use the service, or whether it will be available in all languages. It has not been stated whether there will be any charge for it.
