TikTok launches standalone TikTok Shop app in select countries

TikTok has released a separate app for its TikTok Shop service, though it is not yet available widely. The company has not made a formal announcement, and the app appeared in app stores quietly. Social media consultant Matt Navarra first spotted the listing.

According to the app's App Store listing, the TikTok Shop app offers personalised product picks based on a user's interests. Shoppers can watch live streams and short videos that show products in use. The app also promises app-only deals, free shipping offers and exclusive benefits on a first order.

The listing says payments are secure and that users can track orders in the app. It also says customer support is available around the clock, from purchase to delivery. The app is available on Android as well as iOS.

Navarra said the app is currently listed in Singapore. Other countries where it has appeared have not been confirmed. The app is not yet available in the United States.

TikTok Shop has so far been available inside the main TikTok app, where users buy products through videos and live streams. A standalone app would let the company offer shopping as a separate product. It is not yet known whether the main TikTok app will keep its shopping features once the new app launches widely.

TikTok has not said when the app will reach more countries. It has also not said whether the standalone app will offer different deals from those available in the main app. Users outside the countries where it is listed cannot yet download it.
