Motorola Signature 27 flagship announced with 200MP periscope camera

Motorola has announced the Signature 27, which it calls its most advanced flagship smartphone to date. The company unveiled the phone at a recent event, but the details it gave were limited. A later hands-on video has filled in some of the missing hardware information.

According to the company's announcement, the phone uses a 6.78-inch 1.5K display with a high-brightness tandem AMOLED design. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the latest flagship mobile platform from the chipmaker.

The camera system is built around a multi-sensor array that includes a 200MP periscope telephoto lens. Motorola said the camera array has been awarded a DXOMARK Gold Label. The phone also includes enterprise-grade privacy features, which the company has not described in detail in the material available.

Hardware revealed in the hands-on video

The hands-on video shows hardware that was not covered at the launch event. These include dedicated motion sensors, which the video points to as one of the additions. The video's maker is an independent outlet, and the details come from its own testing of a device rather than from Motorola's announcement.

The announcement itself is the main source for the display, chip and camera specifications. Those figures have not been independently verified.

What is not yet known

The available material does not give a price, a release date or a list of markets where the Signature 27 will go on sale. Motorola has not said when readers in India can expect the phone, and the announcement does not mention an Indian launch. Readers who want pricing and availability should wait for the company to confirm them.
