India all-rounder Prema Rawat has hit the fastest half-century in women's T20 cricket. She reached 50 off just 14 balls, without getting out, in a Senior Women's T20 Trophy match.
The innings takes the record away from Pakistan. It surpasses the earlier mark set by Pakistan's Fatima Sana, who now sits behind Rawat on the list of the fastest fifties in the format.
Rawat's unbeaten knock came in a domestic fixture in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy. Her 14-ball fifty is the quickest recorded in women's T20 cricket. The match details beyond her innings have not been released.
T20 is the shortest form of the game, and fifties scored in very few balls are rare. Records of this kind are tracked closely by cricket statisticians, so a change at the top of the list draws attention.
Rawat's performance is a reminder of the talent coming through the Senior Women's T20 Trophy.
It is not yet known whether Rawat's innings has been formally ratified by the sport's governing bodies, or what the wider match result was.
