Mihir Ahuja says Dilwali Diwali drew him for its emotional heart

Actor Mihir Ahuja says the emotional heart of Netflix's upcoming family drama Dilwali Diwali is what drew him to the project. He plays the lead in the film, which is centred on a Punjabi family.

Ahuja said the story's core idea is that home is not just a place. "It is the people who make us feel that we belong," he said. He added that a family drama lets him explore emotions that are intimate, relatable and universal.

Ahuja has recently worked on projects with very different tones. They include the military drama Operation Safed Sagar, which is intense, and an Ujjain-set dramedy with a quirky style. Dilwali Diwali is a warmer, family-focused story.

The film looks at shared traditions, family relationships and what makes a house feel like a home. Ahuja said he wants to look back one day and feel that he explored, made mistakes and grew as an actor.

He said he does not have all the answers about his career yet. He said each character and story teaches him something about himself, and that building a career is about being honest with every step.

The release date for Dilwali Diwali has not been given beyond it being upcoming on Netflix.
