A record festive month
One industry tally, which counts 209 scooter, motorcycle and moped makers, put October's total at a record 223,847 units. That is up 48% from 150,891 units in October 2025. The same tally said the electric segment made up about 10% of the 2.31 million two-wheelers, both petrol and electric, sold in India last month.
The count also said 2026 has already passed the full-year 2025 total. Electric two-wheeler sales reached 1.34 million units in 2025, and the industry has now sold 453,844 more units than that figure in the first ten months of 2026. Navratri, from 11 to 20 October, supported strong buying, and October was the third month this year with more than 200,000 sales, after July and September.
What comes next
The same industry tally said Dhanteras and Diwali, falling between 6 and 8 November, could push November's numbers higher still. The data covers retail registrations only, so it does not show dispatches from factories or unsold stock.
