Story- Hardik Pandya is not in Baroda's squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
- The all-rounder has been sidelined by a series of injuries in recent months
- He has spent a large amount of time at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru
Hardik Pandya has not been included in Baroda's squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the domestic Twenty20 tournament. The news was reported on 7 November 2026.
The all-rounder has been sidelined by a series of injuries over the last few months. Much of that time has been spent at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where players rehabilitate and train under medical supervision. The omission is the latest setback for the Baroda captain-to-be in a difficult run.
The current spell of trouble traces back to the Indian Premier League, where Pandya suffered back spasms. Since then he has been working on his recovery in Bengaluru rather than playing regular cricket.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is one of the main domestic limited-overs competitions in India, and selection for it is closely watched by fans and selectors alike. For Baroda, the absence of their senior all-rounder is a blow to the side's balance.
It is not yet clear who will fill Pandya's role in the squad, or whether he will be considered for later matches in the tournament. Neither the BCCI nor the Baroda cricket association has given a detailed explanation publicly.
