Story
  • MakeMyTrip has bought a majority stake in Quick Ride, a Bengaluru shared mobility startup.
  • The deal gives MakeMyTrip its first foothold in ride pooling for daily city commutes.
  • Quick Ride's founders will keep leading the business; financial terms have not been disclosed.

MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake in Quick Ride, a Bengaluru-based shared mobility platform, and is moving into ride pooling for the first time. The travel technology company announced the deal on 6 November 2026. It has not disclosed the financial terms.

Quick Ride matches people travelling along similar routes so they can share cars or bikes. The platform, founded in 2015 by KNM Rao, also sells its service to staff at companies through partnerships with employers, IT parks and business campuses. Its model is asset-light, meaning it does not own the vehicles it routes.

How the deal is structured

MakeMyTrip said Quick Ride's ride pooling business and brand were moved into a new company, Co Ride Mobility Private Limited, through an internal restructuring. MakeMyTrip holds a majority stake in that entity. Quick Ride's founders will continue to run the business. Its earlier electric vehicle taxi business stays with the original company, iDisha Info Labs Private Limited.

Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, said the deal would help the company build a presence in high-frequency commutes within cities, alongside its intercity travel. Quick Ride will sit under MakeMyTrip's ground transport business. Prakash Sangam, who leads redBus and oversees ground transport at MakeMyTrip, said the move would widen the range of travel the group can serve, including daily office trips and weekend journeys between cities.

Background

The deal was first reported on 19 October, when the travel company was said to be negotiating a purchase of Quick Ride through its bus-booking subsidiary. MakeMyTrip's bus booking arm redBus has been used as the template for the new platform, and MakeMyTrip said it will apply that experience in India and overseas.

Shared rides can lower travel costs for daily commuters and cut the number of vehicles on the road, the company said of Quick Ride's model. Whether pricing or routes will change has not been announced.

MakeMyTrip has not said when Quick Ride's services will be integrated into its app or what cities will be affected first.
